How long does your script take?

Paste the text, pick a speaking pace, see the duration. Pauses from stage directions count in, speaker names and chapter marks do not.

Speaking pace

Calmly explained is 110 to 130, normal speech 150, brisk 170 and above.

Prompt with this

The text is sent to our server for the calculation and is not stored there: no log, no row in a database. If you would rather send nothing at all, use the prompter, which calculates in the browser.

Questions

How the calculation works

How is it calculated?
Words divided by the speaking pace, plus the pauses. Counting works exactly as it does in the prompter, so both name the same number.
What does not count?
Lines starting with an at sign or a hash, that is speaker names and chapter marks. And everything in square brackets, which is stage direction.
How do I write a pause?
As [Pause 2] within the text, the number is seconds. Without a number it is one and a half, and we do not accept more than twenty.
Is my text stored?
No. It sits in the request for exactly as long as the answer takes, and no longer. If you want to avoid even that, calculate in the prompter, where the text never leaves the device.
